Our volunteers are the centerpiece of every In the Cut 5k event. Without the support of local schools, nonprofits, groups, and individuals we wouldn’t be able to bring high-quality events to the Metro-Detroit area.

ABOUT US >

In the cut 5k was inspired by a group of men to help move our community toward a more healthy way of living. What better way to do that than with the objective of completing a 5k. While there is a race, the event also has partnered with health care groups and local personal training and fitness facilities to bring about a change.

The name "IN THE CUT" was inspired by the first run to ever be organized as an official event in Detroit's "Dequindre Cut Greenway", The Dequindre Cut Greenway is an urban recreational path that opened to the public in May of 2009. The inaugural Inthecut5k fun run started at Chene park with a path though the developing Dequindre Cut and back. The run moved to Historic Hines drive park in 2022 because of growing costs associated with running at the extremely popular downtown jewel along the riverfront in Detroit.
